Is this compatible with a wide pad/seat?

It is compatible with the AB-3000 wide pad (no wide seat is needed) but the AB-3000 wide pad is 1.37" taller than the 4100 pad so when stored vertically, it will be angled and resting on the pad.
How stable is the wide pad?
The wider backplate combined with a 4-bolt connection allows the wide pad to be really stable on there versus the 5200 which has bolts down the center.
What's the benefit of a closed ladder design?

A closed ladder design prevents you from lifting out the ladder when adjusting your bench and specifically when taking the bench vertical. The back pad does not swing around.

10/10 perfect bench
Perfekt stability, smooth moving, huge, handles a lot of weight perfectly, even prettier once it arrives. Best Bench i ever used, and ive been to a lot of gyms over the years.
And especially If you are tall and wide, Look No Further. This ist it.

AB-4100 Bench 8 Month Review
I've had the AB-4100 adjustable bench for 8 months now, and am super happy with it. I love the width and support of the pad, the simplicity of adjustments and how easy it is to move. Assembly is pretty simple.
The gym my wife belongs to uses the AB-4100, so that says a lot to me. Great purchase!

Excellent heavy-duty bench
Excellent heavy-duty bench.
Easy to adjust the incline. Wheels are great and easy to move locations in my gym. Padding is great and design is smart with minimal gap between bench sections. Assembly was 20 mins. Last bench I will own.
